Insurance Coverage

According to BC/BS on January 1, 2010 the Federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPA) will be enforced in the state of Georgia.  The impact of this act may be of interest to individuals with developmental learning disabilities such as dyslexia and dysgraphia.  Although the dust is still settling our understanding is that employers  insuring 51 or more employees who offers those employees both medical and mental health benefits will now, in most cases, have to provide parity in coverage between medical and mental benefits.  That may mean that dyslexia testing and therapy may now be covered by your policy.  It would be prudent to investigate these matters with you insurer.  If you require specific insurance codes please feel free to contact us at any time at http://www.rwiga.org/.

Welcome to the Reading & Writing Forum.

This Blog is sponsored by the Reading & Writing Institute and is focused on the 15% of human beings who struggle with reading and writing.

Did you ever wonder why some children learn to read and write with ease and others cannot?

The sad fact is that 15% of our children have difficulty learning how to read and write that is approximately 70,000 children in metropolitan Atlanta alone.  Most of those children will never reach their full potential in life.

It is absurd to believe that all of these individuals lack motivation and intelligence.  It would be equally as nonsensical to think that all of the teachers are incompetent and all school systems substandard. So then why does illiteracy exist?  The answer is both simple and complex.
